I Can Only Imagine

A very good morning to you. I greet you in Jesus' precious name!

It is Friday morning, 2nd September, the year 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the First Book of Samuel:

“Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel answered, “Speak, for Your servant hears.”

1 Samuel 3:10

And then we go straight to the Gospel of John:

“Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher).”

John 20:16

Have you ever sat down and tried to imagine what it is going to be like when we hear our Lord Jesus call our name? Folks, I've got an imagination, that's right, I'm a dreamer. My late mom always used to say to me, “Angus, you are always dreaming”, but I want to tell you, I cannot wait to hear when He calls my name. Will we know him though? That is the question. When he calls your name will you know that it's the Lord? Mary Magdalene thought it was the gardener. Young Samuel had to go to Eli several times because he didn't know who was calling him. I want to ask you when He calls your name, will you recognize him?

“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.”

Matthew 25:21

Do you remember that beautiful song written and sung by the Christian band called MercyMe? The title is: 'I Can Only Imagine.' Those words are so beautiful - Can you imagine what it's going to be like when we are standing before the glory of God, when He calls us?

The words go like:

“What will my heart feel?
Will I be able to speak at all?
And I will be able to worship forever, worship you!”

You know, I've often thought about what it must be like to meet Moses and Elijah, I'm talking about the great giants of the Bible! But I actually got quite emotional this morning when I was preparing this little message for you... I thought, “Lord, some days I just cannot wait to meet you face to face because this world, truly, holds nothing for me. Just to be able to sit with You, Lord, and just to gaze into Your glory. What a Man, this Man who said one word and everything that we see came into being!

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” His name is Jesus!

John 1:1

Have a wonderful day and spend lots of time with Him today because He's waiting for you. God bless you and goodbye.
